Since 1995, Michael Ward has enjoyed the responsibility of being President of SIDS and Kids Queensland.

This not-for-profit organisation was formed in 1978 through the joint efforts of SIDS parents, Health Department workers and other interesed people.

In recent years, SIDS and Kids Queensland broadened its service provision to support people who have been affected by the death of a child from any cause – not just Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
